How to catch an Aniimo: Aniipods, the Break gauge and good habits
To catch an Aniimo: break its BREAK gauge in combat first, then throw an Aniipod while it is vulnerable. There are five Aniipod strengths (Pro, Hyper, Trace, Mega, Ultra) — save the Ultras for rare creatures and variants.
The principle, in three steps
- Start the fight. Attack the creature normally.
- Break the BREAK gauge. Every wild Aniimo has one. Once emptied, it becomes vulnerable: that is your catch window.
- Throw the Aniipod. Inside that window your odds are far better.
The five Aniipods
Aniipods are the catching items. Five variants exist at launch:
| Aniipod | Recommended use |
|---|---|
| Pro | The basic one. Use freely on common creatures. |
| Hyper | A step up, for slightly tougher targets. |
| Trace | A specialised variant, useful when the target is hard to pin down. |
| Mega | Save for rare creatures and evolved stages. |
| Ultra | The strongest. Keep for variants and genuinely difficult targets. |
Pros restock easily. Do not ration them: a creature that escapes costs more than a basic Aniipod.
Catching aids
Two items support the catch:
- The Tumbler, used before you throw.
- The Sparkling Cube, also used beforehand.
Their exact numbers are not published officially. We will complete this section once the values are verified in game, rather than quoting figures we made up.
Where to look for what
Each region of Idyll has its own population. Rather than wandering, go to the right zone:
- The region list shows how many Aniimo live in each, and which ones.
- Every Aniimo page lists the regions it appears in.
- The Region filter in the Aniidex shows at a glance what you still have left to catch in a zone.
Catch them all, including the weak ones
A “weak” Aniimo is useful in three ways:
- The Homeland. Many mediocre fighters are excellent workers.
- Twine. Each species grants a movement ability. The one that unlocks a passage is not always the strongest in combat.
- The Aniilog. Completion is a goal in itself, and tracking lives right in the Aniidex: tick what you have caught, progress stays in your browser.
What about variants?
Prismana, Umbrabow, Dazzling and Shadow are rare variants. They demand patience and good Aniipods: it is all covered in Prismana and Umbrabow explained.
Frequently asked questions
Which Aniipod should I use on a rare creature?
A Mega or an Ultra, after breaking the Break gauge. Exact catch formulas are not published: as soon as they are, we will add a calculator here.
Can I permanently lose a creature by failing?
A failed attempt consumes the Aniipod, but the creature can reappear. No Aniimo in the launch roster is announced as unique.
What is the Tumbler for?
It is a catching aid, used before you throw the Aniipod. Its exact effect still needs confirming in game.
